I am doing some hand appliqing and really need to get some applique thread. I was told the silk thread was the best . But what weight? . What your favorite brand???

YLI Silk thread is really nice. Silk is slippery making it easy to go through the fabric and hides.

If you decide to use cotton, get the finest weight you can, at least 60wt. Aurifil thread is good even though it's a 50wt. Cotton has more "grab" to it where silk is slippery.

Try both and see what you like. I also know some people love Bottom Line from Superior thread, but I worry about how long it would last.

Hope that helps :)

Oh..if you are doing machine applique that needs to be seen like for a button hole stitch. Like a 40wt.

If you are doing a satin stitch applique or invisible, use 50 wt of the color. Or use invisible thread. Use the smallest needle you can find for invisible thread..60 is hard to find, but if not, use a 70.

You want to use the thinnest possible thread you can find (if it is for HAND applique). It should melt right into the background and never be seen. I believe I use 100 wt silk thread. I also use a milliners needle.

I intended to put you a little bit of observation just to say thanks the moment again for the striking principles you've featured here. It is so surprisingly open-handed with you to offer unhampered precisely what some people would have made available for an e book to help make some money for their own end, most importantly seeing that you could possibly have tried it if you considered necessary. These tricks likewise acted as a fantastic way to understand that other people have the identical eagerness like mine to figure out a lot more when considering this issue. I believe there are thousands of more pleasant opportunities up front for those who browse through your forum.
