Healthy Granola Bars

Wanted something to snack on today but also wanted something healthy.





The picture is not very clear but take my word for it ,they are great!!!
Here is the recipe for the granola :

Chewy Granola Bars

1 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp baking power
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tst. vanilla
1/4 cup honey

Combine oats,flour,brown sugar,baking soda, baking powder,cinnamon,salt in a bowl and mix well.
Add the vanilla and honey, mix well. At this point you can add chopped nut,dried fruits, or coconuts.
Press mixture evenly into a greased 8x8 pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 18-20 minutes . Cool before cutting .


I made some today and doubled the recipe.

Train Quilt & Train Valances~

ALL DONE!!!!!!
I have the quilt done and now I have the valances done too!!! Yeah!!!I made the valances to match with trains on them . I had to make valances for 3 windows . I think they came out pretty good . Dakota was so happy with them . He love his New Room. She(my daughter Angela) call today to see if her Dad would go over and install the rods for her ,of course we went(any excuse to see our only Grand)

A "Quilt as You Go" Quilt


I want to show off the quilt that I made for my son Leo Jr .
This one was made about 4 years ago. Its a"quilt as you go"
Meaning when I am through sewing the quilt together its all ready
quilted and I am done with it . This one was fast and fun to make .
I had a pattern that I bought from my local quilt shop ...........can't give you the name of the pattern because I loaned it out and it never came back home :0(


I used a denim fabric for the backing (not jean fabric ) just regular fabric from WM
This would be a great quilt to make as a Stash Buster too. ~ How about a valance to match~

UP-DATE ~ 7 Day Challenge~

The 7 days are up! I have lost 2lbs.!!! Yeah!!
For a total of 5.7lbs!!!!!
I am very pleased with the results . I know you all may think it not much but for me its good . I take meds that slows my metabolism . It took me 1 whole month to loose 3lbs. So 2lbs in 1 week is great!! LOL!!!

The 3 Fast Miles got easier with each day of working-out . Each mile is a 13 minute mile!!! Its surprising how fast time goes . I will try to work up to the 5 fast miles(not today).
I have walk 28 miles so for this month !!!
You know what, I am really enjoying this (I know it sounds crazy but I really do!!)


I noticed that I have so much more energy when I exercise and I feel so good !!!


Now I just have to make this a daily habit . I really don't have a problem with dieting . I just need to move this body more!!!

One thing that has helped me alot was getting a pair of running shoes . WOW!! What a differences the right shoes makes . I was having a problem with the side steps but with the running shoes NO problem at all!!

Accountability And Motivation ~7 day challenge ~

That's right 7 days!!!!!!

I have been walking now for 1 whole month !! YEAH!!!!!
Loss 3.7lbs and walked 37.5 miles so far . (I put on a pair of pants today that had been a little tight and noticed its loser around the hips) The 3.7lb loss is not much but with the work out it will come off.
Most of these miles were with Leslie Sansome's DVDs. I love them . I have"The 1 & 2 Mile Walk", "The 3 Fast Miles","The 4 fast miles". They came as a collection all in 1 box. I like to mix it up a bit with the different DVDs.
Today I did The 3 Fast Miles . In this one she challenges you to do this DVD(the 3 fast walk) for 7 days . Leslie claims that if you do this for 7 days that you are able to burn a meal(lunch)and by the 7th day you should have a healthy weight loss. So I decided to give this a try !!! I will let ya'll know how I have done with this .

~New York Beauty~

Happy 4TH of July !!!!



Since it will be the 4th of July soon I thought I would show off a "New York Beauty" quilt .
I made this one for my niece when she got married about 2 years ago .
I really enjoyed making it. Its my first New York Beauty and do plan to try some day to make another one .

This quilt is a "Quilt As You Go " type quilt. Its made in 4 sections then I quilted each sections . I joined them by adding a strip of fabric on the back. The backing is black so none of the strips shows at all. Each border was joined with the QAYG method. This took a while...............:)This was my first BLACK quilt . Keeping the fuzz and thread off was a major undertaking !!
I did an all over meandering stitch. I have a BSR on my Bernina 440 and that helps a lot.
By the time I finished quilting on this one my stitches were pretty nice . It was alot of quilting so Practice = perfect :0)

Bad Hair Day................

For Dakota!!!!

Why are children so fascinated with scissors????

On Fathers Day evening my daughter and her family had just settled in to watch some TV after supper. Well Dakota wanted to cut with paper scissors and construction paper. Angela got it for him and he was playing and cutting on the paper . After a while he came sit right next to her on the couch and she heard him cut a chuck of hair off from her hair!! She whopped him on the butt and when look in the mirror to see the damage :C

That same week a few days later she was doing something in her bedroom when her husband Thomas called out to her to come see what Dakota did !! He took the scissors and cut his hair to the scalp!!! Angela cried!!
In this picture I think he knew he was in trouble.His Daddy gave him a hair cut then his clippers when out . They called for me to go over and finish the job !!! He doesn't look like my Grandson with that Buzz cut!!



I can't wait till his hair grows!!!










Accountability and Motivation ~Up Date~

June up date!!




I walked 27 .5 miles and loss 3 lbs. I know that's not a lot :0( I started on June 8th so its not quite a month . I am happy with the results . I am the type of person that really doesn't like to exercise all that much but I do know that's the only way this weight will come off. Funny thing is,I feel so good when I do exercise, more energy for one and just overall feel better.


I have been walking with Leslie Sansome's DVDs . Some days Its easy and some days I struggle through but I get through it LOL!!
